Building up a Toolkit
A short blog post today. I’m just listing the tools I have been gathering since last October.
Starting with the six-sided rune die set which just arrived today. All 24 runes of the Elder Futhark are on the faces of these wooden dice. Each is about 16mm long, with the runes carved into the dice with pyrography.
These are three sets of eight-sided rune dice. Each column, top to bottom, has the full 24-rune set on the top, middle, and bottom dice.
Next, a set of astrological dice, or “astrodice,” three twelve-sided dice. On one, the astrological signs of the zodiac; on another, the symbols of the planets, along with Sol, Luna, the North Node and South Node. On the last, the numbers of the Houses, from the First to the Twelfth.
The next set I have is the set of Witches’ Runes, or Witchrunes. This set has the full thirteen Witchrunes, plus a fourteenth blank Witchrune.
Lastly, these cubes would be instantly familiar to anybody who ever read the Deryni fantasy novels of Katherine Kurtz. Yes, I have collected a set of Wards Major dice.
These items have been on my list for a long time. I have also multiple Tarot decks, bags full of traditional rune stones, and altar cloths for throwing my dice and runes onto for divination.
Time to reach out to the world.
