RPGaDay 2023, Day 23
Cool, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder
The answer to this evening’s question is, quite simply, this.
This image does not do the cover justice. The cover is prismatic. It glitters.
On the bus home, an old woman asked me if I were rehearsing for a musical, because the book I was reading looked like a musical songsheet.
That’s how glittery and shiny this book’s cover is.
One key takeaway of this book is that the aforementioned Cult, now known as the Sahajiya, follow a strict code called The Code of Ananda (“Ananda” being a Sanskrit word for bliss).
The Code first appeared in this supplement for the RPG Mage: the Ascension, and it was a rush reading it.
In its modern form, the Sahajiya have given us a more modern form of the Code:-
1. Don’t be a Fucking Asshole
2. We’re All Miraculous. Respect That Miracle
3. When Someone’s Sleeping, Let Them Sleep
4. Other People’s Passions are Not Your Playground (Don’t Take — Ask)
5. Other People’s Treasures are Not Your Toys (Again, Ask)
6. Your Scars /Impediments Do Not Define You
7. Enlightenment is No Excuse
8. Violence has Consequences Even You Cannot Foresee
9. Your Truth is Not All Truths
10. This World is Terrible. Be Kind
That book has given me a takeaway which has lasted me thirty years. It informed my life. It changed me, and it is still changing me, in real world terms. I’ve become calmer, more perceptive, less reactive … cooler, as it were.
Sat Chit Ananda, darlings. Be cool.
