And why we need to collect them
Saturday 2025-09-13 was, apart from being Breakaway Day, also the anniversary of the day I had to go to my boss's office to be told I had until October 11 at work.
That was a day when the other staff saw me crossing the car park, past the surgery, to go into the Yellow Building. I closed the door. All was still.
For about ten minutes.
Then people started rushing back and forth from the Yellow Building to the Surgery - and then an ambulance arrived.
It was one of the poor sods in the woodwork shed on the ground floor. A bit of a medical emergency.
But back in my office ...
Legends are important. We each need to collect and curate them, and more importantly we need others to help spread them, keep telling the stories we create in our day to day lives.
In the end, all we are is stories.
