Your Archetype and Identity
Archetype And Identity
These are the first two Traits mentioned in the previous post. Archetype is the role your character plays to drive the game along; Identity is something fitting for the game.
What characteristics would you like to exemplify in your Archetype? Examples:- Intimidator (Strength / Intelligence), Seducer (Dexterity / Social), Caregiver (Education / Social), Wise Guy (Intelligence / Education), Diplomat (Education / Social), Champion (Endurance / Social)?
Your Archetype describes what you do in the game when the pressure is on you. Do you defend the defenceless or attack the threat? Do you naturally begin investigating, or step back and offer advice to the team in a leadership role? That is who you are.
And what sort of persona is your Identity?
Examples:- Legbreaker (Strength), Diplomat (Social), Leader (Social), Entertainer (Dexterity / Social(, Scientist (Intelligence / Education)
This is your badge. Your uniform. The word on your curriculum vitae or resume that sums up your skills, knowledge, qualifications and career.
Your Archetype is who you are. Your Identity is your job.

‘I’ve already told you where you are,’ your benefactor in green tells you. ‘What I haven’t done so far is tell you who I am.’
She remains seated. ‘I am Doctor Victoria Arran Gooding,’ she says. ‘But you can call me “Doctor” or “Vicky.”’
She glances around. ‘I’m the Director of this Facility,’ she says. ‘We’ve been operational for the last fifteen years.’
She looks ready to answer some of your questions. Here are some of the ones you are likeliest to ask.
‘I can’t tell you what part of the UK you are in. Not yet. Let’s just say that you’re close to where you were stopped.’
‘We can’t let you go just yet. There is something we need to discuss. It concerns your flash drive, that USB stick, and the file it contains.’
‘You are still a little confused. This means that you haven’t opened the flash drive, nor have you even seen the file’s contents. That’s good.’
‘No, actually … here’s the thing. I am going to let you read that file shortly. I’m going to read you in on the secret it contains.’
‘We really can’t let you go until you’ve seen what it was you were so eager to obtain. And you’re going to have to make up your mind on what to do afterwards.’
‘No, you can’t go to your Editor. Not with this.’
‘The reason for all this secrecy is simple. We’re trying to save your life. The knowledge contained in that flash drive can easily get you killed. You saw how easily They destroyed your car. You would be destroyed with far less effort.’
‘And yes, this means your Editor would suffer the same fate. She won’t even see it coming.’
At this point, Vicky gets up, and extends her hand to you. ‘“Who are “They”?” That’s a good question,’ she says, ‘and you deserve a good answer. So let me show you what we’ve been protecting you from. I’m going to show you what we’ve designated as Document Q.’
