Desires
What I would do if I had a windfall
I’m just imagining what I’d do if I won a chunk of cash such as a lotto jackpot. What would my living quarters be like?
I’d set up a treatment room for hypnotherapy sessions, separate from the rest of my home. Patients would be invited to enter through an entrance off the street, not the main front door.
An alcove just off the treatment area for a kitchenette, so subjects could see me preparing herbal teas for them.
An open space, such as a courtyard, for appointments on warmer days, and for social gatherings - and believe me, I’d make sure there’d be social gatherings.
Something for the cooler days and nights.
Even, perhaps, something like this.
It would be nice to have the options, and the leisure time, to devote to creating such places.
But I think the real work of healing people won’t require large or elaborate spaces. I would need, I think, an office fitted out to feel like a place which carries an expectation of healing - where the decor itself is a metaphor for the journey the patient is to be taking; one which leads, not to whimsy or fantasy, but to healing and wholeness.
